Men's Basketball Closes 2025 With 77-67 Loss to Muhlenberg at WestConn Holiday Tournament

DANBURY, Conn. – Emmanuel men's basketball closed out the 2025 portion of their schedule with a 77-67 loss to the Muhlenberg Mules on Tuesday afternoon in the consolation game of the WestConn Holiday Tournament, hosted at the Stephen Feldman Arena. The Saints fall to 6-6 with the loss, while the victory bumps the Mules to 6-5.

Emmanuel led by as many as 11 in the second half as a pair of free throws gave the Saints their largest lead of the day with 12:53 remaining.

From there, the Mules would lock down the Saints, while their offense flourished over the remaining time. Muhlenberg would close on a 35-14 run, completing the comeback on Tuesday afternoon.

Trailing 53-42 with 12:53 to go, the Mules quickly erased the deficit with the use of a 14-2 surge over a 4:17 span, taking their first lead since late in the first half. Six different Mules combined for the 14 points, capped off by a three-pointer for Jack Woodard, to give Muhlenberg a 56-55 lead.

The Mules advantage grew to as high as six, but the Saints would battle back with a 7-0 spurt, as juniors Mahari Guerrier and Noah Beaudet combined for all seven points, putting Emmanuel back in front, 64-63 with 2:56 to go. Beaudet started the run with a three-point make, as Guerrier capped the surge with back-to-back layups.

Muhlenberg responded with their final scoring run of the afternoon, closing out the final three minutes with a 14-3 edge. The Saints three points all came from foul shots, while a critical three-pointer by Peter Stanton-Shepherd and continued foul shooting by the Mules allowed Muhlenberg to complete Tuesday's comeback.

Arinze Achufusi and Liam Gorman led the Mules with 15 points each, as Achufusi was efficient with his 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Drew Buck added 14 points and eight rebounds in the win.

Beaudet led all scorers with 27 points, thanks to 11-of-16 shooting, including 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. Guerrier added 18 points and four rebounds in 37 minutes, prior to fouling out. Rookie Danny Adams chipped in with 10 points in 28 minutes off the bench.

The Saints return to action in the new year, starting the 2026 schedule with a non-conference game against Rivier on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 5:30 p.m. on Yosinoff Court.
