Second Half Outburst Lifts Men's Basketball to 89-62 Victory vs. Elms

BOSTON – Scoring 55 points in the second half, including 66.7 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes, Emmanuel men's basketball earned a critical Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win on Monday night, 89-62, over the Elms Blazers on Andy Yosinoff Court.

Emmanuel shot a red-hot 21-for-31 from the field in the second half, including 6-for-13 from beyond the arc. The Saints move to 4-17 (3-7 GNAC) in the win. The Blazers drop to 4-17 (4-6 GNAC) and hold the final playoff spot in the GNAC standings.

The Saints led 34-30 at the break before their 55-point outburst led to their largest win of the season. After trading baskets over the opening 2:46 saw the Saints lead 40-37, Emmanuel's scoring outburst followed as the home side blasted ahead with the help of an 18-0 surge over a span of 4:48, taking their largest lead to that point at 58-37.

In the opening 7:49 of the half, the Saints outscored the Blazers 24-7, using 10-for-12 shooting and 2-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc to jump out to the 21-point advantage. Junior Vondre Chase and sophomore Noah Beaudet each scored eight points in the run while sophomore Cameron Snowden added six points. The Saints trio combined to shoot a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, including a pair of made three's by Beaudet.

Later in the half, an Emmanuel 8-0 spurt, including back-to-back three-pointers by sophomore Mahari Guerrier, gave the Saints their largest lead of the night at 75-46. The 20-plus-point lead would hold through the final minutes in the 89-62 win over Elms.

Beaudet finished with a career-high 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 5-for-6 shooting from three-point distance. Snowden added 14 points with a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line. Chase and Guerrier chipped in with 12 points each while junior Ismani Cepeda added 10 points in 20 minutes off the bench.

The 55-point half is the most in a single half for the Saints since exactly one year ago, when they tallied a 58-point second half against Colby-Sawyer on Feb. 10, 2024.

For the Blazers, Aden Goffe finished with a team-high 13 points on 6-for-15 shooting. Andrew Ciaglo added 10 points and three steals.

The Saints are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 12, hosting Saint Joseph's College for a 5:30 p.m. conference bout. The Blazers return on Wednesday with a trip to Regis at 5:00 p.m.
