Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls 20-13 at Worcester State in Thursday Non-Conference Clash

Worcester, Mass. - Being outscored 14-4 in the middle two quarters, Emmanuel women's lacrosse was unable to take advantage of a strong start, falling to the Worcester State Lancers on Coughlin Field on Thursday night. The loss for Emmanuel drops them to 2-3 while the Lancers victory boosts them to 4-2.

Emmanuel began the scoring on the day just 30 seconds into the game with junior Madeline Wright scoring the first of her six goals on the night, but Worcester would be quick to respond off a goal a few minutes later from junior Molly Witkowski. The first quarter would find itself in a back and forth battle as the Saints would score and the Lancers would answer back with the first ending 5-3 in the Saints favor. Wright finished with a first quarter hat trick while senior Dejaliyah Srimouksavanh added two goals for the visitors.

The Lancers found their groove in the second quarter, starting the period with four unanswered goals off the quick shots of Abbie Wing, junior Abigail Vincent, Witkowski and junior Shannon Donahue to jump to a 7-5 lead. Worcester and Emmanuel would swap two more goals before the third period wrapped up as Witkowski and Donahue each added another to their tally and hat trick in the half for Witkowski.

The third quarter would find more of the same for the Lancers as they added more quick goals to their tally, this time from sophomore Madigan Kelley in back to back scoring action with one off a man up situation, their second of the game. Emmanuel would claim another goal before Donahue reset the score at 12-8 and additional goals by Wing and Vincent would find the third end with a 17-9 score.

The Saints would mount a comeback in the fourth quarter after junior Mckayla Fisher continued the Lancers scoring, grabbing four unanswered by a final goal from Witkowski with six minutes to go would seal the victory for Worcester State.

Both Ashley Hurley and Abbie Wing would claim their career 100th point in the match to wrap up a prolific game.
