CLEARWATER, Fla. – Emmanuel men's lacrosse wrapped up their Spring Break trip to Florida with a 20-11 loss on Tuesday afternoon to the University of Dubuque at Philip Jones Field. The win helps the Spartans to their first victory of the season as they move to 1-2 while the Saints are in search of their first win and sit at 0-4.

The Spartans started off Tuesday with the first four goals of the afternoon over the opening 10 minutes of the first quarter. Four different Dubuque players scored, including the first of the season for senior Aiden Ennett. The Saints closed the gap to 4-2 by the end of the quarter on goals by first-year Braxton Bragg and sophomore Cooper Mehlhorn.

The Emmanuel momentum carried into the second quarter as three consecutive tallies in the first 4:11 of the quarter gave the Saints a 5-4 lead. But the Spartans would close the half on a strong note, outscoring the Saints 6-1 in the final 10 minutes, as Dubuque held a 10-6 lead at the half.

Junior Cole Cloney opened the scoring in the third, cutting the deficit to three, but the Spartans responded with a pair of goals by Aiden Culligan and a goal by Nolan Dimitri, lifting them to a 13-7 edge.

The three-goal second half deficit was as close as the Saints would get in the final 30 minutes with the Spartans outscoring Emmanuel 10-5 in the second half, on the way to Tuesday's 20-11 win.

Culligan finished with a game-high five goals to go along with two assists. Senior Sam Todd added three goals and seven assists for 10 points in the win. Five different Spartans, including Culligan and Todd, had a hat trick for Dubuque.
