Box Score FITCHBURG, MASS - Emmanuel men's soccer held off Fitchburg State to notch a 2-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference contest. The Saints (2-0-4) held a one goal lead heading into the final 10 minutes of action, where the Falcons (1-4-1) were relentless in their effort, taking seven shots, and Emmanuel goalkeeper,
Owen Silva, recorded three saves.
Silva had six total saves on the day after substituting in for
Isaiah Etienne, who recorded one save and allowed no goals.
The Saints got on the board first when sophomore
Rafael Matamoros put one past the keeper unassisted in the 26
th minute, earning his first goal of the season. Senior
Pierre Paul Labossiere also notched his first goal of the season on an assist from
Jordan Bragoli in the 39
th minute. Fitchburg State's Edwin Daramy cut the lead to one in the 42
nd minute. Emmanuel held off the Falcons in the second half, despite 12 shot attempts.
Emmanuel men's soccer returns home to host New England College on Saturday, September 20 at 7:00p.m. in a GNAC contest at Roberto Clemente Field.
