Men's Soccer Drops Saturday Night Conference Match vs. New England College, 1-0

BOSTON - Despite a heavy amount of possession, Emmanuel men's soccer was unable to break through on Saturday night while New England College took advantage of one of their few opportunities, as the Pilgrims came to Clemente Field and claimed a 1-0 victory over the Saints in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

New England College first-year Eddy Nyemah made the most of one of three Pilgrim shots, starting the game's only goal by forcing a turnover in Emmanuel's defensive third. After tracking down a loose ball at the top of the penalty area, Nyemah lofted a shot over Saints first-year goalie Owen Silva, giving NEC a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute.

Despite outshooting the Pilgrims 20-5, the Saints were unable to find the back of the net as NEC junior keeper Lukas Tate stopped all seven shots that were on target. The visitors also clogged the shooting lanes to hang on for the one-goal win, as NEC blocked eight shots from Emmanuel players.

Emmanuel moves to 2-1-4 this season, including 0-1-1 in the GNAC. The Saints are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 23, as they travel to Dean for a 3:30 p.m. conference match.
