NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Emmanuel College women's soccer played to a hard-fought 2–2 draw with Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday night at Celentano Field.
The Saints (3-2-3, 2-0-2 GNAC) got out to an early jump, going ahead 2-0, but Albertus Magnus (6-1-3, 2-0-3 GNAC) showed grit and capitalized on opportunities to force the tie.
Emmanuel struck first in the seventh minute. Sarah Dullaghan broke free and buried her chance on a feed by Libby Tennant, giving the Saints an early 1–0 lead. Eight minutes later, Dullaghan notched her second goal of the night, this time assisted by Carla Andreu Panighi, pushing Emmanuel ahead 2–0.
However, Albertus Magnus had the immediate reply. On the next play, at the 14:37 mark, Taya Bagley got on the board assisted by Valeria Gonzales and Ejalam Bravo, cutting the deficit to 2–1 before the half.
Early in the second half, in the 56th minute, the Falcons Grace D'Amico netted the equalizer, leveling the match at 2–2. Both teams traded pressure throughout the rest of the half but neither could break through.
The Saints dominated in shots, taking 20 attempts with 9 on goal. Albertus had 4 total shots with 3 on target. In goal, Emmanuel's Teigan Robie made 1 save while conceding 2. Falcons keeper Amy Stevens was busier, collecting 7 saves on the night.
The Saints continue their stretch of GNAC match ups, returning home to Roberto Clemente Field on Saturday to host University of Saint Joseph at 12:00 p.m.
