CLERMONT, Fla. – Emmanuel softball opened its 2026 Florida swing with a pair of losses on Sunday afternoon, falling to St. John Fisher and Saint Vincent at THE Spring Games from Hancock Park.
GAME ONE: St. John Fisher 6 – Emmanuel 3
The Saints opening game of the afternoon was off to a quick start for Emmanuel, as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. With two runners in scoring position and one out, the Saints got on the board thanks to a wild pitch by the Cardinals, followed by a sacrifice fly by sophomore Samantha Serio.
St. John Fisher answered back in the top half of the third after leading off the inning with back-to-back outs. Following a single and a walk, junior Emily McManus stepped in and delivered a three-run home run to center field, giving the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.
The Cardinals added to their advantage in the top of the fourth with the help of some Saints miscues. Senior Gracie Curella knocked in a run on a double to left field and then scored after a Saints error on the play, making it 5-2.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Saints cut the deficit to a pair with another wild pitch leading to a score, but the Cardinals reestablished their three-run lead in the fifth on an RBI single by senior Leah Fron, as St. John Fisher took a 6-3 lead.
Emmanuel had their chances in the sixth with two runners in scoring position and one out, but Cardinals senior pitcher Hallie Lorimer closed the door with back-to-back strikeouts, keeping the 6-3 edge intact.
Junior McKayla Poisson finished 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a run scored. Junior Alexis Martineau went 1-for-4 with a double in the seventh inning. Sophomore Lauren Peers made the opening game start for the Saints, pitching three innings, allowing three runs on three hits.
GAME TWO: Saint Vincent 11 – Emmanuel 10
The Saints fell in a high-scoring game two, suffering a walk-off loss in the bottom of the seventh. Emmanuel trailed 9-5 entering the sixth before posting a four-run rally in the inning to tie the game 9-9, followed by taking the lead in the top of the seventh on a bases loaded walk, giving the Saints a 10-9 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, back-to-back singles to start the inning set the stage for Bearcats junior Alyssa Henderson to provide the walk-off. The Saint Vincent first baseman drove a double into the right-center field gap, scoring both runners, giving the Bearcats an 11-10 victory.
High-scoring innings were the theme of the Saints second game of the day with Emmanuel scoring at least two runs in three innings and the Bearcats doing the same in four of their innings.
Included in the high-scoring affair was a three-run fourth inning, which gave Emmanuel a 5-4 lead at the time, before Saint Vincent bounced back with five runs in their half of the inning.
