New London - Women's lacrosse picked up another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory on Saturday afternoon as they blew out winless Mitchell (0-6, 0-5). Right from the jump, the Saints (7-4, 6-1) asserted themselves as the better team, netting six goals in the first period and leaving zero doubt.
It didn't take long for the scoring to open at Alumni field, as Senior
Madeline Wright fired one into the back of the net just 27 seconds into the match, a sign of things to come for the visitors. The team poured in five more goals in the frame, with Wright tacking on another, her second of four total goals on the day.
The Mariners were just never able to find their footing on the day, as another five goals were scored from the Saints in the second period with junior
Tori Flaherty leading the way, netting two of the five goals in the frame.
Delaney Johnston and
Lily Killeen also scored goals in the period, both with a man up. The Saints were firmly in control going into halftime, holding an 11-0 advantage.
In the third period, the Mariners were finally able to get on the board, as Halie Jennings got one past the Emmanuel defense, scoring the only goal of the day for Mitchell.
In the final 15, the Saints tacked on four more goals for good measure, with sophomore
Abigail Graham grabbing the first goal of her collegiate career. This match was never in doubt, with Emmanuel dominating on the road, winning by a score of 19-1.
Wright led the way with four goals, followed by Johnston who netted three on the day. Senior captain
Avery Robillard added in a pair of goals and assists as well.
