Women's Lacrosse Opens GNAC Campaign With 19-3 Win at Elms

AMHERST, Mass. - Emmanuel women's lacrosse put on a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, scoring the first 16 goals of the match, on the way to a 19-3 win over the Elms Blazers in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action from the UMass Amherst Indoor Bubble. The Saints move to 2-1 (1-0 GNAC) in the win, as the Blazers drop to 0-2 (0-1 GNAC) in defeat.

The scoring came early and often for the Saints on Saturday, beginning their run with six goals in the first quarter. Five different Emmanuel players scored in the 6-0 quarter, with sophomore Emilia Ferraro being the only repeat scorer over the opening 15 minutes.

Emmanuel added another six goals in the second quarter, as six different players recorded a goal for the Saints. Ferraro finished off the scoring with six seconds left, capping off a first half hat trick, as the Saints led 12-0.

Seven more goals followed for Emmanuel, as first-year Daphne Blake was responsible for three tallies, earning a second half hat trick in Emmanuel's 19-3 conference victory.

Ferraro, Blake, and senior Madeline Wright all finished the afternoon with hat tricks. Sophomore Ella Stein had a four-point day of two goals and two assists.

The Saints are back in action on Monday, March 9, for their home opener at 7:00 p.m. on Clemente Field against Framingham State.
