BOSTON – Emmanuel men's lacrosse jumped out to an early lead, but the unbeaten Rivier Raiders used a strong second and third quarters, on the way to defeating the Saints, 13-6, on Saturday afternoon from Clemente Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Raiders remain one of four undefeated teams in NCAA Division III, improving to 15-0 (11-0 GNAC), while the Saints fall to 7-8 (6-4 GNAC).
Prior to the start of the game, Emmanuel celebrated the careers of Class of 2026 graduates
Ian Silva, Ethan Madura, Ty Carroll, Samuel Yan, Cole Cloney, Christopher Hamblett, Chase Greenlaw, and
Reece Curran, in a brief Senior Day ceremony.
The Saints led 2-1 after a quarter on goals by Cloney and Greenlaw, but the Raiders responded in the second quarter with five goals to overtake the Saints. Rivier scored the first four goals of the frame, all in the span of 4:13. The two sides traded goals in the final minute, as the home side trailed 6-3 at the half.
The conference's top team continued to apply the pressure in the second half, outscoring the Saints 6-1 in the third quarter, including the final five tallies in the last 8:43 of the quarter, to lead 12-4 through three quarters. The Saints added two goals in the fourth against Rivier's one, as the Raiders stayed undefeated in their 13-6 win.
Cloney finished with three goals and one assist and is now two points shy of tying the all-time program scoring record with one regular season game to go. First-year
Kellen Connor added two goals and one assist while Greenlaw finished with one goal and two assists.
The Saints wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, April 21, traveling to Regis for a 6:00 p.m. conference game.
