WESTON, Mass. - Emmanuel men's lacrosse found themselves atop a three-way tie for the No. 4 seed in the upcoming postseason, using a 14-9 victory over the Regis Pride on Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play from the Regis Athletic Complex.
The Saints move to 8-8 (7-4 GNAC), while the Pride fall to 5-8 (4-7 GNAC). Emmanuel beat out Norwich and Saint Joseph's College for the No. 4 seed thanks to the highest ranking win tiebreaker, as the Saints were the only team of that trio to beat a team above them in the standings, thanks to an early-season victory over No. 3 seed, Lasell.
Emmanuel's offense was in full force to open Tuesday's game, scoring eight of the game's first 10 goals to lead 8-2. Senior
Cole Cloney scored five of the eight goals, while in the process becoming the program's all-time leading point producer, passing Chris Curtis '16 for most points all-time.
The Saints and Pride split 10 goals in the third quarter as the visitors maintained their six-goal advantage at 13-7, with 15 minutes to play. Emmanuel locked down the hosting duties for the first round of the GNAC Playoffs despite being outscored 2-1 in the fourth quarter, on the way to a 14-9 victory.
Cloney not only became the program's all-time point scorer with his performance, but a night of seven goals and four assists for 11 total points set the new program record for points in a game, passing the previous mark of 10 points, set by Ryan Castle '23 in 2023. Junior
Brandon Shuman added a hat trick, while senior
Chase Greenlaw had a four-point night with two goals and two assists.
The Saints No. 4 seed keeps them at Clemente Field for the opening round of the GNAC Postseason. Emmanuel will host No. 5 Norwich on Saturday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. in the GNAC Quarterfinals.
