NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In the first-ever match play event in Emmanuel men's golf program history, the Saints came away with all five points on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Albertus Magnus Falcons at the Alling Match Play Challenge at Alling Golf Club.

In the opening match, Saints senior Ryan Brunet led wire-to-wire, starting with a 4-up lead through five holes. That lead held until the turn with Albertus's Deacon King cutting the deficit to 2-down with seven holes to play. That's as close as King would get, as Brunet finished off the match with a halve on 16, claiming a 3&2 win.

Junior Andrew Lavoie was out second for the Saints, and despite falling behind early, Lavoie claimed six consecutive holes, going from a 1-down deficit to a 5-up lead. Lavoie coasted to the finish line, winning the 15th hole to close out a 4&3 victory.

Sophomores Jack Ouellette and Sean Fenton matched Lavoie's 4&3 victory in their respective matches. Ouellette and Falcons No. 3 Justin Sullivan were tied through 11 holes, but Ouellette took control, winning the next four holes consecutively, on the way to his 4&3 win. Similar to Ouellette, the fellow sophomore, Fenton, used a three-hole winning streak on 13, 14, and 15, clinching a 4&3 victory.

First-year Aiden Boyce capped off the Saints sweep with a 4&2 win in the anchor match. After tying the first hole, Boyce won the second and never surrendered the lead. Sitting at 3-up with three to play, Boyce closed out the match with a win on 16, claiming his 4&2 win in the process.

The Saints head into medal play for the first time this season next Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the 5th Annual Tony Mariano Invitational, hosted by Norwich. The event takes place at Country Club of Barre, the same course where the 2026 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship will be held in early October.
