BOSTON, Mass. - Women's Volleyball (7-2, 3-0) extends the win streak to five with yet another dominant performance, sweeping the visiting Colby-Sawyer Chargers (2-9, 1-2). The Saints dynamite offense, with an attack percentage of .417, proved to be too much for the visitors, giving Emmanuel their third straight 3-0 victory.
In the opening frame of the night, the Saints held a 7-4 advantage before a 6-0 sprint opened up the lead. Sophomore
Sofia Petrucci was right at the heart of this run, tallying three service aces. The Emmanuel lead jumped to as much as 11 at 19-8, before taking the set by a score of 25-16.
The second set opened in an uncharacteristic way for Emmanuel, as the visitors jumped out to a 4-1 lead with the Saints struggling to get under the Charger serves. It did not take long for the Saints to find their footing though, eventually taking the lead at 10-9 off of a block from
Delilah Davis and
Frances Ramos Rodriguez. The home team remained in front at 14-12, before a back-breaking 8-0 run squashed any hopes of the Chargers taking this set. Emmanuel snatched this set by a score of 25-13, nearly doubling up their opponent.
Emmanuel held a slim lead of 16-15 in the third frame, until Junior Letita Bossou, and the Saints caught fire. Emmanuel closed this one out by taking nine of the final ten points, with three of those points coming off the hand of Bossou. The 25-16 victory polished off the team's third straight sweep, and third win overall in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches.
Bossou led the way with 14 kills and two total blocks, with Sophomore
Ayla Evans also tallying double-digit kills with 10. First year duo
Brianna Quinlan and
Delilah Davis each tallied eight kills to round out the offense.
The Saints will return to Andy Yosinoff court this Saturday for their first home Tri-Match of the year. Emmanuel will look to extend the win streak, taking on USJ at 11:00 AM and Curry College at 3:00 PM.
