Men's Soccer Scores 2-0 Shutout Win Over Rhode Island College in Friday, Non-Conference Match

BOSTON, Mass. — Emmanuel men's soccer scored its first win of the 2026 campaign, claiming a 2-0 shutout over Rhode Island College at Roberto Clemente Field on Friday night in the Saints home opener. The win lifts the Saints to 1-1 this season, while the Anchormen fall to 0-2.

The Saints struck first in the 11th minute when senior Luis Pimentel converted a penalty kick, giving Emmanuel an early cushion they would never relinquish.

The lead grew just before halftime when junior Jacob Beck buried a goal in the 40th minute off a feed from first-year Louie Miller, sending the Saints into the half leading 2-0. Miller slid a pass to Beck 25 yards straight on from goal. Beck's attempt took a deflection on the way in, top-spinning over the Rhode Island goalkeeper, doubling the Saints edge.

Saints sophomore goalkeeper Owen Silva was outstanding between the posts, turning away five shots on goal to preserve the clean sheet across a full 90 minutes. Rhode Island pressed hard in the second half, out-shooting Emmanuel 10-7 in the frame and 14-13 overall, but couldn't find a way past Silva or the Saints' backline.

Emmanuel has a tight turnaround, breaking for less than a day, before hitting the field tomorrow, Sept. 5, for a 4:00 p.m. match against former conference foe Johnson & Wales at Clemente Field.
