WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Emmanuel women's soccer got off to a strong start Sunday afternoon, but couldn't hold on to their early lead, falling 3-1 to the University of Hartford Hawks at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.
The Saints struck early when sophomore
Grace Foster buried a goal in just the fifth minute, assisted by first-year
Meghan Brazeau and sophomore
Kayla Silveira, giving Emmanuel an early 1-0 cushion.
Senior
Paige Letourneau led a counterattack from the Saints half into the attack. Letourneau slid a pass to Brazeau, who one-touched a pass to Brazeau, who then continued the passing to get the ball to Foster. From six yards out, Foster fired a shot into the bottom right corner.

th minute after a foul by sophomore

Teigan Robie, came up big, denying
Reese Sadler's attempt from the spot to preserve the lead — one of seven saves on the day for Robie.
The Hawks leveled things in the 32nd minute on a goal from
Taylor Freimuth, assisted by
Tessa Mulvey, tying the match at 1-1 heading into the second half.
Hartford broke the tie in the 73
rd minute with Sadler avenging her earlier penalty attempt, finding the back of the net with this attempt to give the Hawks a 2-1 advantage. Freimuth then added her second goal of the match in the final minute, sealing the 3-1 final.
The Saints drop to 0-2-0 this season and will look for their first victory on Tuesday, Sept. 8, traveling to Bates for a 6:00 p.m. match.
