BOSTON, MA - After celebrating senior day, marking her last home
women's lacrosse game, senior midfielder Logan Carr (Saratoga
Springs, NY) led the Saints to a 17-10 victory over Daniel Webster
College in a non-conference match-up played at Roberto Clemente
Field. Carr was perfect on the day, netting a game-high 6 goals off
of 6 shots, while dishing out one assist. The win boosts the Saints
to 5-8 on the season, while the Eagles drop to 3-7 with the
loss.
Emmanuel got on the board quickly, scoring twice in the opening
five minutes of play, as freshman Madison Altwies
(Southington, Conn.) scored with an assist from Madeline Leahy
(Cohasset, Mass.) and freshman Marykate McNulty
(Madison, Conn.) found the back of the net on a free position shot.
The Saints led 2-0, until the Eagles got an unassisted score from
Christina McHugh (Taunton, Mass.) in the sixth minute of play.
The Saints would then score twice more, utilizing goals from
Carr and Jenny
Konecnik (Sparta, N.J.) to take a 4-1 lead. Junior Samantha
Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) scored unassisted in the 19th minute to cut
the Eagles' deficit to two goals at 4-2.
The Saints then went on a 4-0 run, with unanswered markers
coming via Carr, Megan Mattox (Upton,
Mass.) and two from Altwies. Emmanuel led 8-2 after twenty-six
minutes played in the contest.
Senior midfielder Natalie Bates (N.Kingstown, R.I.) got a shot
past Emmanuel goalie Hillary
Dandurant (Merrimac, N.H.) in the 27th minute, but the Saints
then scored four more times in the final three minutes of the half.
Carr netted two and Altwies and Leahy each scored once during the
run, as the hosts took a 12-3 into the break at halftime.
Out of the break, the Eagles scored on an unassisted shot from
Charlene Gordon (Brooklyn, N.Y.), but the Saints quickly answered
with a free position score by Carr and Emmanuel led, 13-4. Bates
and Konecnik traded goals at opposite ends to set the score at 14-5
with fifteen minutes remaining.
The Eagles would score five more times before it was over, with
two goals coming off the stick of Cotoni. However, Emmanuel
maintained its lead throughout and held on for the 17-10 win.
Carr was a perfect 4 for 4 on free position shots and finished
with 6 goals and 1 assist for 7 points on the day. Altwies netted 4
goals, while Leahy scored 2 goals and dished out a game-high 4
assists for the Saints. Konecnik and McNulty finished with 2 goals
apiece and Mattox chipped in with one goal in the effort. Dandurant
recorded the win for the Saints, making 6 saves in goal.
Bates and Cotoni each recorded a hat-trick to lead the way for
Eagles. Daniel Webster goalie Teresa Moscati (Buffalo, N.Y.) made 8
stops in the effort.
Carr, Emmanuel's all-time leading scorer, now has a total 66
goals over her two-year career with the Saints. Carr's parents
joined her on the field during the pre-game senior day
celebration.
Emmanuel will be off for the next week and return to action next
Saturday, when the Saints travel to Nashua, New Hampshire to take
on the Raiders of Rivier College in the final regular season game
of the year.
