Marquez, Huynh Claim GNAC Player, Setter of the Week Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – The women's volleyball duo of junior Isabella Marquez and sophomore Kason Huynh helped Emmanuel to a pair of in-conference wins this past weekend and have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively, for the week ending on Sept. 15 and as announced by the GNAC Office on Monday.

For Marquez, it's her second straight nomination as GNAC Player of the Week while Huynh picks up the Setter of the Week honors for the first time this season.

The junior outside hitter ultimately helped the Saints to a 4-0 record this past week, including GNAC wins over Johnson & Wales and Colby-Sawyer. In those conference wins, Marquez averaged 3.89 kills per set, hitting just under .300 from the floor.

Marquez currently leads the GNAC in kills (111), kills per set (4.11), and points responsible for (134.0).

Huynh earned her first Setter of the Week after averaging 8.22 assists per set in the two GNAC wins. In total, the sophomore had 74 assists and 39 digs over the nine GNAC sets on Saturday, including a career-high 49 assists against Colby-Sawyer. After her performance, Huynh took first spot in the conference in assists (230) and assists per set (7.93).

The Saints are back on the court tomorrow evening as they welcome Fitchburg State to the Jean Yawkey Center for a 7:00 p.m. match.
