WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Emmanuel men's wrestling made its long-awaited debut on the mat on Sunday, Nov. 2, taking part in their first event in program history, coming at the Lycoming Invitational Tournament, hosted by Lycoming College.
Nearly 20 wrestlers competed on Sunday for the Saints with first-year
Luke Driscoll leading the way, scoring a second place finish in the 184 weight class. Driscoll opened his day with a quarterfinal win over Ethan Guevara of Otterbein, scoring a fall at 1:49. In the semifinals, Driscoll defeated Jack McCaffrey by pinfall at 4:43, advancing to the finals at 184.
After falling in his first match of the morning, first-year
Lorenzo Lanzelli breezed through the rest of his matches, scoring a 21-3 technical fall and an 11-3 major decision, as he claimed a spot on the podium in the 157 class. Fellow first-year
Seth McGrew also scored a spot on the podium for Emmanuel in the 149B weight class.
Emmanuel's first season as a program will continue with their first-ever home match, a one-on-one dual with Keystone College on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m. on Andy Yosinoff Court.
