PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Emmanuel men's wrestling came away with a 42-9 victory on Wednesday night in the program's last scheduled dual meet of its inaugural season, claiming the win over the Plymouth State Panthers at Foley Gymnasium.
After a forfeit at 125 by Emmanuel gave Plymouth State a 6-0 lead, the visiting Saints rattled off eight consecutive wins on the way to a dominant performance on Wednesday night.
First-year
Zachary Brzoska tied the dual at 6-6 after winning via pinfall in just 49 seconds in the 133-pound class. Sophomore
Austin Gamber and first-year
Seth McGrew were next on the board for the Saints at 141 and 149, respectively. Gamber scored a 12-5 decision in his contest, while McGrew posted an 11-2 major decision at 149 pounds, helping the Saints to a 13-6 lead in the dual.
A pair of forfeit victories at 157 and 165 boosted the Saints lead to 25-6, as first-years
Jhay Napoleon and
Luke Driscoll added to the Emmanuel advantage in the next two bouts. Napoleon earned a 19-3 tech fall at 174 pounds, as Driscoll scored a pinfall at 184 pounds, increasing the lead to 36-6. The final Saints points of the night came from a forfeit at 197, as the Saints finished with a 42-9 win.
It's a busy weekend for the Saints as they travel to Hunter College on Saturday, Feb. 14, for a tri-meet, before competing in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 15, hosted at Coast Guard.
