ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Emmanuel cross country started their new season on Saturday morning with the Suffolk Short Course Classic and a trip to the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park. The Saints men's program finished in 12th place while the women's team took home 14th position.
The Saints men were led by junior Luke Bullock, who finished his 5k race in a time of 18:10.91. Sophomore Alex Mazzarelli and junior Nicholas Ware were next over the line for the Saints, finishing in times of 18:29.69 and 18:36.15, respectively.
Junior Ryan Bausch and first-year Mateo Gonzalez rounded out the counting scores for the men's team, as the duo finished with times of 18:42.40 and 19:24.87, respectively, in their 5k races.
For the Saints women, senior Sydney Gonzalez posted a 54th place finish, thanks to a time of 12:30.49 in her 3k event. Junior Kendall Newton was next over the line for Emmanuel, completing her 3k in a time of 12:48.05.
First-years Molly Hough and Maddie Brown impressed in their first career collegiate meets with times of 12:58.27 and 13:09.51, respectively. Senior Julia Kurthy rounded out the top five Saint finishers with her 3k time of 13:56.00.
Emmanuel heads back out to the course on Saturday, Sept. 6, taking a trip to the University of Hartford for the Hawks Invitational.
