CHICOPEE, Mass. – Emmanuel cross country was finished second at the Elms Blazer Classic on Saturday, back racing traditional race lengths. The men's program competed in an 8k for the first time this season and the women raced their first 6k. Both teams finished 2
nd out of 6 teams.
The top finish of the day belonged to sophomore, Joseph Mazzarelli, whose new personal best 8k time of 30:08.1 was good for 5
th place. Juniors
Nicholas Ware (30:27.1) and
Luke Bullock (30:40.9) followed in 6
th and 7
th place, respectively.
On the women's side senior
Sydney Gonzalez led the way for the Saints, finishing in 3
rd place with a 6k time of 25:34.8, and
Kendall Newton followed in 4
th place with a time of 25:39.1. First-year
Molly Hough also notched a top-10 finish, running 26:27.9 and finishing in 9
th position.
The Saints will take part in the at UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic next Saturday, September 20.
