WINTHROP, Mass. – With a second-place finish as a program on Saturday at the Elms Blazers Cross Country Invite, Saints senior Sydney Gonzalez and first-year Molly Hough have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Cross Country Runner and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Gonzalez recorded her first podium finish of the season on Saturday, coming in third place individually, with a time of 25:34.8. In Emmanuel's first 6k race of the season, Gonzalez finished just 2.8 seconds from a new personal best.
Hough scored a top-10 finish for the first time in her collegiate career, coming through with a ninth-place finish in a time of 26:27.9.
Saints cross country is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20, competing in the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic in Dartmouth, Mass. at the Robert Dowd XC Course.
