HARTFORD, Conn. – Emmanuel cross country was back on the short courses on Saturday, participating in the University of Hartford Hawks Cross Country Invitational. The men's program competed in a 5k for the second straight week while the women's team was out for their second consecutive 3k. The women's team finished 7th out of 14 teams while the men's team placed 12th of 15 programs.
The top finish of the day belonged to senior Sydney Gonzalez, whose new personal best 3k time of 12:11.2 was good for 22nd place. Junior Kendall Newton also posted a 3k PR, finishing in 31st place with a time of 12:24.6. First-year Molly Hough was next across the line, with yet another PR of 12:33.8, placing her in 39th.
On the men's side, junior Luke Bullock was the top finisher, coming across the line in his 5k in a time of 18:35.2, good for 69th position. Junior Nicholas Ware and sophomore Alex Mazzarelli were next over the line in 77th and 78th, respectively, with times of 18:51.4 and 18:52.4.
The traditional race lengths will be back in play in the Saints next meet as they head for Elms on Saturday, Sept. 13, to take part in the Blazers Invitational.
