BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team topped the Wildcats of Wheelock College, 7-0 on Wednesday night at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass.

The Saints improved to 4-4 while the Wildcats fell to 0-6.

Emmanuel got off to a strong start early in the contest, maintaining consistent possession despite pressure from the visitors. The Saints managed to tally the first score of the match at 4:10 when freshman Ryan Brady's (Springfield, Vt.) shot from outside the box was stopped on a diving save from Wildcat's keeper, sophomore Dan Campbell (Northboro, Mass.) which then careened off the near post and into the waiting feet of Emmanuel sophomore, Kevin Shirley (Madison, Conn.) who tapped in for the first score.

Shirley responded to his first tally with a second just over ten minutes later on a header thanks to an assist from sophomore Andres Rocha (Epsom, N.H.) off a corner kick, while freshman Kevin Esposito (Gales Ferry, Conn.) notched his first career goal for the Saints at the 24:52 mark, off an own goal by the Wildcats.

Emmanuel freshman Allan Parrelli (Reading, Mass.) completed the first half scoring with an assist from junior Ivan Barrera (Millis, Mass.) to give the Saints a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

Emmanuel opened the second half with a two quick goals to boost its lead. Senior Jesse Tannetta (North Billerica, Mass.) volleyed a short cross from freshman Danny Richman (Medfield, Mass.) into the side netting for his second goal of the season, then, following a break on the right-hand side, Shirley found the back of the net for his third goal of the game to complete his hat trick. Exactly one minute after Shirley's goal, Tannetta knocked home his second of the match to solidify the 7-0 victory for the Saints.

Junior goalkeeper Patrick Froass made three saves in the victory for the Emmanuel while Campbell recorded five stops for Wheelock. The Saints outshot the Wildcats, 14-4.

For their next match, the Saints will travel to Maine to meet Saint Joseph's College this Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
