Emmanuel Athletics Announces Keith Danley as Head Men's Soccer Coach

BOSTON – Emmanuel College Director of Athletics Olivia Berry announced Monday the hiring of Keith Danley to the position of Emmanuel Men's Head Soccer Coach, effective immediately. Danley becomes the sixth head men's soccer coach in the 24-year history of the program. The newest Saints head coach was most recently with Chatham University before making his way to Boston.

The only head men's soccer coach in the history of Chatham's program, Danley was hired in the summer of 2018 to start the Cougars program. After an offseason of planning and recruiting, Danley and the Cougars made their debut in August 2019. In the years since, Danley coached seven seasons at Chatham, while leading his teams to three of the last five conference tournaments.

"After an extensive national search, I am confident we have found the right leader for Emmanuel men's soccer in Keith Danley," said Berry. "What stood out most, beyond his coaching résumé, was the way he connects with student-athletes and the culture he creates. He develops the whole person, which aligns perfectly with Emmanuel. We're excited to welcome him to the Saints family."

Danley brings a dozen years of experience in the collegiate coaching ranks as he started his career as an assistant coach at Elmira College from 2014-2016, before making another two-year stop at the University of Scranton from 2016-2018.

"I'm honored to be selected as the next men's soccer coach at Emmanuel College. I would like to thank Olivia Berry and the search committee for giving me this opportunity," said Danley. "As I went through the interview process, I was impressed by the positive environment across campus and the strong culture within the athletic department.  I'm thrilled to be returning to Massachusetts and joining the Emmanuel community."

Among his other responsibilities at Chatham, Danley managed the men's soccer program's budget, served as a game day administrator in winter and spring seasons, and served as the Student Affairs Liaison for the Chatham Athletic Department.

Danley has local ties, growing up in Framingham, Mass., and playing one season of soccer for Babson College as a first-year in 2010, before transferring to Allegheny College to play out the rest of his career.

"I'm excited to get to work with the players this Spring as we look to set standards and build a strong foundation within our team. Our goal will be to create an environment where we can stimulate the growth and development of our student athletes athletically and academically," said Danley. "On the field, we will look to establish an identity and evolve how we want to play stylistically. We have a talented group of players, and we will strive to compete at a high level within the GNAC this fall."

Danley holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Allegheny College, and master's degrees in Education from Elmira College and Accounting from the University of Scranton.
