BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's Soccer Team took Lesley University into extended play, before knotting up the Lynx, 0-0, on Thursday night. The 110-minute game played under the lights at Clemente Field featured two evenly matched programs battling it out on the rain-soaked pitch. The tie helps the Saints remain undefeated at 2-0-4, while Lesley stands at 4-1-1 on the season.

Both the Lynx and the Saints were solid in the opening frame with the hosts taking a narrow 6-5 edge in shots. Emmanuel keeper Wilhelm Du Bois (Key Biscayne, Fla.) stopped the three Lynx shots on goal, while Lesley goalie Nathan Trucks (Guilford, Conn.) handled the Saints' three shots between the pipes.

The Lynx managed five shots to just two by the Saints in the second stanza, but then turned up the heat in the two overtime periods. Lesley fired off 8 shots in the extended play, while the hosts held their ground, playing defensively in the overtimes.

Lesley wrapped up the night with an 18-8 edge in shots (4-3 SOG). Du Bois finished with 4 saves for the Saints and earned the shutout. Junior keeper Nigel Leahy (New Paltz, N.Y.) spelled Trucks during the second half and overtimes in net for the Lynx. Leahy managed a save on Emmanuel's lone shot on goal in the second half.

This was Emmanuel fifth overtime game of just six contests played in 2011. The Saints' unbeaten streak continues to be Emmanuel's best start in program-history.

The Saints will be back in action this Saturday, when they travel to Newton, Mass for a noontime start with the Lasers of Lasell College. Lesley will play next on Monday night Anna Maria. The game is slated to begin at 7pm.
