BANGOR, Me. - The Emmanuel Men's Soccer Team picked up its second tie in as many days, as the Saints battled through a scoreless 100-minute contest with Husson University. Tonight's 0-0 stalemate with the host Eagles came on the heels of Emmanuel's scoreless tie with Maine Maritime Academy just yesterday. After two hard fought contests in the Husson Classic, the Saints return to Boston at 0-0-1 on the season.

Emmanuel controlled the tempo early in the game, maintaining much of the possession in the opening half. The Saints out-shot the Eagles 3-2 in the first frame. The first half was suspended three minutes early of the break, due to lightening. After a thirty-minute recess, the two squads returned to action for the final 58 minutes of play.

The Eagles managed several scoring opportunities as time diminished, out-shooting the visitors, 6-2, in the second half and overtime combined. Emmanuel's freshman keeper Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) stopped the three Eagle shots on goal and came out of the weekend without letting in a goal. Husson recorded 6 corner kicks to just two taken by Emmanuel, but Charette and the Saints' defense were solid all night.

The Saints fired off 5 shots in the game with two of them coming on goal. Sophomore Allan Parrelli (Reading, Mass.) and senior Jeremy Scanlon (Belmont, Mass.) recorded the shots on goal for the Saints.

Saints Head Coach Goin was once again impressed by the effort of Mathew Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.) and Kevin Esposito. Coach Goin also noted the strong play his team received in the middle from Scanlon and sophomore Ryan Brady (Springfield, Vt.).

After 100 minutes of scoreless action and the 30 minute weather delay, the officials called the game due to darkness. The Saints will look for their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, when they travel to New London, Connecticut to take on Mitchell College in a 4pm start. Husson University now stands at 1-1-1 on the season and will play Union College next Saturday.
