Box Score WESTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men's lacrosse program picked up a 16-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference win over host Regis College Wednesday evening in league play. Prior to the match, the Pride honored its seniors in the final regular-season home contest of the year. at Regis Stadium.
Emmanuel scored 59 seconds into the contest as Thomas Quigley found Drew Chant for the first goal of the night. Chant earned another goal close to six minutes later, with Chase Greenlaw picking up an unassisted tally 57 seconds after that to give the Saints a 3-0 advantage.
The Saints would score six goals in the second quarter, including two goals by Ryan Castle, to extend its lead to 9-0 heading into halftime. Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) put the Pride on the scoreboard early in the second half with two goals, the second off an assist by Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.), but Castle answered with consecutive goals later in the third quarter as Emmanuel pulled away with the victory.
Penta played the entire match in net for the Pride and collected 10 saves. Eric Anderson started in net for the Saints and ended up with four saves in the first half before Randy Castle took over in the second half and made three saves.
Regis seniors Arpan Kakadia (Pembroke, N.H.), Aidan Martin (Cutchogue, N.Y.), Nick Penta (Cotuit, Mass.), and Jack Wizboski (Townsend, Mass.) were joined on the field by their parents and honored before the start of the match.
Regis (2-12, 0-9 GNAC) concludes its regular season with a short trip to face Lasell University Saturday, April 23, beginning at 1 p.m. Emmanuel (4-9, 3-5 GNAC) hosts Anna Maria Saturday at 12 p.m. and Albertus Magnus next Wednesday, April 27, starting at 7 p.m. A win for the Saints would lock in a berth to the 2022 GNAC postseason tournament.
