THE LEAD – The Emmanuel Saints golf team returned to play on a perfect spring day at the Eastern Connecticut State Spring Invitational, with two EC players finishing in the top 10.
EMMANUEL HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Ian Reynolds (East Haven, Conn.) turned in his fourth top-five finish of the 2022-23 season, and his second of the spring season, after finishing T3 this afternoon, shooting a 10-over, 82, leading the Saints.
- Junior Connor Maguire (Old Lyme, Conn.) cracked the top ten, shooting a 13-over par, 85, at Ellington Ridge, good for a T9 finish.
- First-year Diego Serra (New Bedford, Mass.) was third-best among Saints players, shooting a 97 to finish at T24.
WINNING PERFORMANCES
- Eastern Connecticut junior Ashton Lewis (Fairfield, Conn.) used the home course knowledge to his advantage, claiming medalist honors with a 1-over-par performance of 73. Lewis was clear of the field by eight shots, as his closest competitors shot 81.
- The Warriors claimed the team title in Thursday's 18-hole event, shooting a team score of 322, bettering second place Salem State by 16 strokes.
