GROTON, Conn. - In their final event before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, Emmanuel men's golf claimed its second straight team victory, defeating the Mitchell Mariners in a two-team event, 308-377, on Tuesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course. The 308 score is the second-lowest team score in the program's history, just two shots more than the team record of 306, set earlier this season.
The Saints scored the top four spots individually, led by the medalist honors for sophomore
Andrew Lavoie, who shot 2-over, 73, winning the event by two strokes. First-year
Sean Fenton had his best collegiate showing, placing second in the event after a round of 4-over, 75. First-year
Jack Ouellette and junior
Ryan Brunet tied for third place, both carding rounds of 80 (+9) on Tuesday.
Emmanuel heads to the conference championship on Monday, Oct. 13, and Tuesday, Oct. 14, at New Haven Country Club. Through five events this season, the Saints enter the GNAC Championship averaging a team score of 316.4, which would break the lowest team average in program history by 14 shots. The Saints opened the season at New Haven and shot 323 at the difficult par-70 layout, good for second place.
