Huynh, Marquez Secure Spots on CSC Women's Volleyball Academic All-District® Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Saints junior Isabella Marquez and sophomore Kason Huynh have both been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Women's Volleyball Academic All-District® Team, as announced by the CSC on Tuesday. Both Saints earn a spot on the Academic All-District® squad for the first time in their careers.

New this year for the women's volleyball Academic All-District® team, student-athletes eligible for selection to the CSC Academic All-District® teams must compete in 90 percent of a team's matches or start at least 66 percent of contests throughout the year.

Marquez and Huynh easily qualified for the athletic portion of the nomination as the pair started in all 29 matches for the Saints this season.

Other familiar criteria remained in place as nominees must still be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Graduate students are judged based on their final undergraduate cumulative GPA for nomination until a new graduate program GPA has been established.

Marquez continued her steady rise on the court as one of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's (GNAC) elite outside hitters, finishing the season with career-bests in kills, kills per set, and hitting percentage. The junior hitter became the first Saints women's volleyball player since 2013 to finish the year on the GNAC All-Conference First Team after leading the GNAC in kills and kills per set.

Huynh enjoyed a breakout sophomore season as the Saints primary setter in 2024. Leading the GNAC in assists per set, Huynh eclipsed the 1,000 career assists mark this season, needing just 49 matches to reach the Grand Club. A GNAC Second Team selection, Huynh finished the year with the fourth-most single-season assists in program history with 838.

Unlike in past years, the nomination to the Academic All-District® team does not necessarily move a student-athlete into consideration for the Academic All-America® ballot. A committee, comprised of Academic All-America® Core Members and members from the CSC will determine which student-athletes move to the All-America ballot.

Once the ballot is released, CSC members have until Dec. 31 to vote for Academic All-Americans®. The CSC will announce the Academic All-America® First-, Second-, and Third- Teams on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
