BROOKLINE, Mass. – Despite the second-lowest team score in program history and three of the top four individual finishers on Wednesday afternoon, Emmanuel golf finished in second place, shooting 310 (+30), at Brookline Golf Course. Rhode Island College's counting scores totaled 308 (+28), giving the Anchormen a two-shot victory.
Leading the 310 score for the Saints was first-year
Andrew Lavoie, who shot a collegiate career-best 2-over, 72, matching him for the lowest 18-hole stroke total in team history, to claim second place. Sophomore
Ryan Brunet posted a 7-over round of 77, while senior
Ian Reynolds came in with a 78 (+8), to claim third and fourth, respectively.
Rounding out the scores for the Saints were senior
Gianni Ridolfi and junior
Diego Serra, who both carded rounds of 13-over, 83, tying 10
th on the afternoon.
On a difficult day in 50-degree weather and wind gusts up to 30 mph, Anchorman senior
Jasper Bruin-Slot came away with the medalist honors, carding an impressive 1-under round of 69, thanks to three birdies and two bogeys.
Including Bruin-Slot's 1-under day, Rhode Island College held on to the win thanks to rounds of 79, 79, and 81, giving them the narrow margin of victory. Dean came in third after a team total of 362, while Elms placed fourth on the day with their score of 370.
The Saints head back into action on Friday and Saturday, competing in the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational at Valley Country Club in Warwick, R.I.
