Volleyball, Lacrosse, & Golf Combine to Place Six Saints on CSC Men's At-Large Academic All-District Squad

GREENWOOD, Ind. - A combination of three student-athletes from the Emmanuel men's volleyball program, two members of the men's lacrosse program, and one player from the men's golf program have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Men's At-Large Academic All-District® Team, as announced by the CSC on Tuesday, June 17.

Class of 2025 graduate Louis Da Silva and rising seniors Nick Sciabica and Michael Shelley are the Saints men's volleyball representatives. Men's lacrosse 2025 graduates Sanzio DiGesualdo and Evan Decker, as well as Class of 2025 grad and men's golfer Gianni Ridolfi, wrap up the six Saints representatives.

Nomination to the CSC Academic All-District® Team requires a combination of academic and athletic achievements to be selected. Academically, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

Athletically, for men's volleyball and lacrosse, those selected must start in at least 66 percent of their team's games or participate in at least 90 percent of their team's contests. Golfers are eligible if they play in 70 percent of a team's events or were in the lineup for their respective conference championship tournament.

Men's At-Large selections are comprised of student-athletes from 10 eligible sports, according to the CSC. Emmanuel golf, lacrosse, and volleyball are the only sports in the list of eligible sports that can be considered for an At-Large selection. Institutions are limited to six selections to the Men's At-Large Academic All-District® Team from those 10 sports. Men's wrestling will become Emmanuel's fourth eligible sport for At-Large selections starting next year.

The same half-dozen Saints represented the institution on last year's Men's At-Large Academic All-District® Team, as they all become two-time members of the Academic All-District® squad.

Da Silva's rise to one of the top middle blockers in all of Division III culminated with the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year honors, as well as a spot on the All-Conference First Team and a nomination to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region I Squad.

Sciabica played nearly every set at libero for the Saints this past year, appearing in 29 of the Saints 31 matches while playing 102 of the team's 109 total sets.

Shelley produced another dominant season for the Saints at outside hitter, finishing the year as an All-Conference First Team selection, an AVCA All-Region I Player, all while earning his second consecutive nomination as an All-American Honorable Mention by the AVCA.

DiGesualdo saved his best season for his senior campaign, finishing the year with a career high 50 points on 26 goals and 24 assists. The native of Niskayuna, N.Y. also had career-bests with 22 ground balls and six man-up goals.

Decker ends his Saints career with another excellent season, mainly on defense for the Saints, while chipping in at long stick midfielder occasionally. Decker played and started 16 games for Emmanuel, collecting 35 ground balls to go with 21 caused turnovers.

Ridolfi rounds out the Men's At-Large Academic All-District® Team selections, finishing his career with 23 tournament appearances for the Saints, eighth-most in team history. Ridolfi added the only Hole in One in program history to his resume in Oct. 2024, hitting his first career ace on the par-3 2nd hole at South Shore Country Club.

Unlike in past years, the nomination to the Academic All-District® team does not necessarily move a student-athlete into consideration for the Academic All-American® ballot. A committee, comprised of Academic All-American® Core Members and members from the CSC will determine which athletes move to the All-American ballot.

Once the ballot is released, CSC members have until June 24 to vote for Academic All-Americans®. The CSC will announce the Academic All-American® First, Second, and Third Teams on Wednesday, July 9.
