NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Emmanuel men's golf started their 2025 campaign with the lowest season-opening team score in program history, earning second place with a score of 323 (+43) on Tuesday afternoon at the Albertus Fall Invitational at New Haven Country Club.
The team score of 323 beats the previous record for lowest season debut in team history by two shots, set back in September of 2012 in the Emmanuel Tri-Match, where the Saints shot 325 at Robert T. Lynch Golf Course in Brookline.
Junior Ryan Brunet had the round of the afternoon for Emmanuel, posting a third-place finish thanks to a round of nine-over, 79. First-year Jack Ouellette made a strong impression in his first collegiate appearance, carding a round of 80, good for a tie for fourth.
Sophomore Andrew Lavoie added a T7 spot with his round of 81, while rookie Sean Fenton capped off the counting scores for the Saints, with his score of 83 and a tie for 10th.
The hosts in Albertus Magnus came away with the team win on Tuesday, shooting 313 on the way to a 10-shot win over the Saints. First-year Pierson Hester recovered from a triple-bogey on the opening hole to shoot 74, claiming medalist honors in the process. Falcons junior Nick Piselli came in second individually, helping Albertus Magnus to the team title with his round of 77.
Emmanuel heads back home to host their first event of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Emmanuel welcomes Elms, Lesley, and Rhode Island College for the Saints Invitational. Tee times are set to start at 1:00 p.m. at South Shore Country Club.
