WINTHROP, Mass. - Saints junior Letitia Bossou and Sophomore Sofia Petrucci took home a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards during the opening week of the fall season, as announced on Monday. This comes following a stellar road doubleheader sweep from the Saints on Friday as they improved to 2-1 on the young campaign.
Petrucci has enjoyed a breakout to start her second collegiate campaign, earning herself the first Libero of the week award of the year from the GNAC. During the Saints 2-1 start to the year, Petrucci has already compiled 71 total digs, including a career-high 29 in the win over FDU-Florham. The Huntersville, North Carolina native has also posted 12 assists through the first three games, already nearly ? of the way to matching her total assist output from her first season (39).
In her first year as a team captain, Bossou is coming up big for the Saints already, taking home the first GNAC Player of the Week award. In the matchup with FDU-Florham, she totaled a career high 23 kills, to go along with four total blocks. The Rochester, Minnesota native is also coming up clutch as she tallied nine points in the final frame against FDU, and five points in the winner-take-all fifth set against John Jay.
The Saints will continue their eight-game road trip to start the season this week, with matchups against Salve Regina on Thursday, and Mitchell College on Saturday.
