WESTON, Mass. - After a three-day postponement of the Regis Spring Classic, the second meet of the Emmanuel Saints track and field season got underway on Monday, as the Regis Spring Classic became the Regis Spring Eclipse Classic, hosted by Regis College on April 8.
On the men's side of the draw, a program record was posted by first-year Jahan Puryear (Arlington, Va.), coming in the pole vault. Clearing a height of 2.44 meters (8' 0"), Puryear breaks a record that stood since 2019 by nearly six inches. Puryear also recorded a fifth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.41.
Sophomore Pierre Paul Labossiere (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) took the win in the triple jump with a distance of 12.31 meters (40' 4.75") for a new outdoor triple jump PR. Labossiere additionally added a pair of thirds, claiming podium position in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.43 and in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.75 meters (5' 8.75").
First-year Isaiah Etienne (Watertown, Mass.) finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.02. He added a sixth place spot in the 100 meters, following a time of 11.73 seconds. Sophomore Alexander Constant (Concord, N.H.) finished fourth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:48.64.
Among the highlights for the women's team was claiming five of the top six positions in the 400-meter hurdles event. Junior Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) won the event with a time of 1:10.68. First-years Amy Proulx (Littleton, Mass.) and Kason Huynh (Mission Viejo, Calif.) placed second and third, respectively. Junior Naomi Obenhaus (Sabattus, Maine) came in fourth while first-year Siobhan Walsh (Springfield, Mass.) added a sixth place finish.
In the women's triple jump, junior Cynthia Brito (Whitman, Mass.) set an outdoor PR, winning the event with a distance of 10.04 meters (32' 11.50"). Robinson was just inches shy with her best attempt, coming in second with a leap of 9.98 meters (32' 9"). Robinson also added a third place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.50 meters (4' 11").
Senior Alyssa French-Graham (Waterbury, Conn.) posted a pair of top-five finishes in the field on Monday. French-Graham came in third in the hammer throw after a distance of 33.46 meters (109' 9"). The senior thrower added a fifth place finish in the discus with a distance of 28.28 meters (92' 9").
First-year Ava Fisher (Abington, Mass.) had the best finish of her young career in the javelin after taking home second place in the event with a throw of 32.41 meters (106' 4"). Fellow first-year Mia Demore (Framingham, Mass.) came in third in the 5000 meter run, setting a PR with a time of 23:52.05.
The Saints return to the track and field on Saturday, April 13, at 9:30 a.m., making the trip to the Silfen Invitational, hosted at Connecticut College.
