WESTON, Mass. – Emmanuel men's and women's outdoor track & field headed back to action on Friday, competing in the Regis College Spring Classic. A trio of program records fell on the day as numerous season-best performances were posted.
The first record to fall on the day came in the women's 4x100 meters, as sophomores
Donna Gauvin, Eliana Jackson, and
Olivia Costa, as well as first-year
Alisha Gomes, broke the outdoor record by nearly half a second. The 4x100 relay team finished in a time of 50.62 seconds, winning the event and setting the new outdoor school mark.
The record-setting day continued for Costa later in the afternoon in the 400-meter hurdles. A time of 1:07.24 was good for second place in the event and broke the previous Emmanuel outdoor record by nearly two seconds.
Over in the field, first-year
Nathan Haber earned the win in the pole vault, setting the new program record with a height of 3.50 meters.
Junior
Kason Huynh posted a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.46 meters. Junior
Kendall Newton scored second in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:10.43. Sophomore
Aida Davis was second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.78. First-year
Molly Hough wrapped up the second-place finishes for the Saints, scoring a time of 12:38.00 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
On the men's side, senior
Jahan Puryear, junior
Luke Bullock, and first-year
Mateo Gonzalez earned second place spots in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 5000 meters, respectively. Puryear posted a time of 2:04.37 in his race. Bullock finished his event in 4:28.66, while Gonzalez came across the line at 18:15.11.
Senior
Andrew Kubaska and sophomore
Nathan Morgan added third place finishes in the 3000-meter steeplechase and 400-meter hurdles, respectively. Kubaska crossed the line in 11:49.48 for his third place spot, while Morgan came across in 59.56 in the 400 hurdles.
The Saints have a quick turnaround as they head to the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Saturday, April 11, with events starting at 9:00 a.m.
