MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Over two days, Emmanuel indoor track & field was back in action, competing in the Riverhawk Invitational on Friday and the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday.
The women's indoor shot put record, a mark that has stood for 20 years, was broken on Saturday as sophomore
Ava Fisher threw a program record 10.70 meters (35' 1.25"), breaking the previous record set by Laura Mason by three inches on Feb. 5, 2005.
Saturday, on the track, junior
Sydney Gonzalez placed third in the mile with a time of 5:48.36 while first-year
Donna Gauvin came in third in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 10.27 seconds. Sophomore
Kendall Newton added a fourth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.34. First-year
Aida Davis claimed a fourth-place spot in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.65.
From the field, junior
Emily Greene came in fourth place in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.47 meters. Senior
Cynthia Brito added a fifth-place spot in the triple jump with her distance of 10.02 meters.
On the men's side, the top performance of the two-day stretch belonged to first-year
Nathan Morgan, who finished the 400 meters in 52.56, good for a second-place spot. Sophomore
Ryan Bausch came in fifth place in the 1,000 meters with his time of 2:54.74.
In the field, junior
Pierre Paul Labossiere finished third in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.80 meters. Labossiere added a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 12.49 meters.
The Saints return with another two-day event at the Boston University Terriers Classic on Friday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1.
