BOSTON – In their final meet before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, Emmanuel indoor track & field made the short trip to the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday, participating in the Reggie Lewis Open, presented by the Boston Athletic Association.
The top finish of the day came on the track with sophomore
Nicholas Ware claiming second place in the 5,000 meter run. The second-year distance specialist set an indoor PR with a time 17:27.05.
Junior
Pierre Paul Labossiere posted a third place finish in the triple jump thanks to a distance of 12.62 meters. He added a seventh place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.80 meters.
Sophomore
Ryan Bausch and first-year
Alex Mazzarelli finished in sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 800 meter event while sophomore
Luke Bullock claimed eighth place in the 3,000 meters.
For the women's squad, third place on the track for junior
Sydney Gonzalez and a third place in the field for senior
Cynthia Brito marked the top finishes for the team. Gonzalez took third position with an 800 meter time of 2:33.24 while Brito's third came in the triple jump, setting a new indoor PR with a distance of 10.57 meters.
Sophomore
Mia DeMore and first-year
Gabrielle O'Connor finished in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5,000 meters with times of 22:20.00 and 23:16.54.
The Saints take next weekend off before competing in the GNAC Championship on Sunday, Feb. 16, hosted at Boston University, with events beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Emmanuel women's program will seek to defend their 2024 crown and win their third conference championship in five years.
