NEW LONDON, Conn. – Emmanuel track and field returned to action on a cool and wet Saturday, taking part in the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College.
The top performance of the day belonged to senior
Desiree Robinson, who claimed victories in the long jump and the triple jump. With a distance of 5.04 meters in the long jump and 10.95 meters in the triple jump, Robinson took the top spot in her two field events.
Junior
Emily Greene and senior
Caroline Carey added fourth place finishes in the high jump and 400 meters, respectively. Greene cleared the bar at 1.41 meters while Carey ran the 400-meter in 1:02.01. Junior
Ava Fisher rounded out the women's top-five finishes with a 32.09-meter throw in the javelin, good for fifth place.
Senior
Monet Elias had the top finish on the men's side, placing seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:13.16.
Sophomore
Jahan Puryear and first-year
Nathan Morgan scored eighth-place spots in the 800 meters and 400 meters, respectively. Puryear crossed the line in 2:08.78 while Morgan finished in a time of 53.76. Senior
Justin Elkin also took home an eighth place finish, coming in the shot put, with a throw of 12.16 meters.
The Saints return to action on Saturday, April 19, competing in the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted at MIT.
