Labossiere, Robinson Sweep GNAC Field Athletes of the Year Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – After combining for five indoor individual championship victories at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Meet in February, senior Desiree Robinson and junior Pierre Paul Labossiere remained just as dominant at the GNAC Outdoor Championship Meet, and as a result have been named the GNAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year and Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, respectively, as announced by the GNAC Office on Wednesday afternoon.

Robinson and Labossiere sweep the GNAC Indoor Field and Outdoor Field honors, becoming the second and third Saints in program history to sweep a season of awards for indoor and outdoor track and field, joining AJ Godios, who completed the feat as Track Athlete of the Year in 2022.

Robinson scored the maximum of 30 points in her three jumping events at the GNAC Outdoor Championships, claiming first place in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. She added a win in the 4x800 meter run and a second place in the 400-meter hurdles.

In the high jump, Robinson's clearance of 1.51 meters netted the top of the podium. In the long jump, a distance of 4.87 meters was good enough for the win. And finally, in the triple jump, her distance of 10.80 meters gave her first place.

Combining her track and field events, as well as the GNAC Indoor and Outdoor Championship meets, Robinson finishes her career as a 15-time GNAC Champion, including a 12-time champion in the field, a two-time champion in relays, and a one-time 400-meter champion.

Labossiere scored a pair of first place finishes at the GNAC Outdoor Championship to go along with a third-place finish in the long jump.

In the high jump, Labossiere set the outdoor program record on the way to victory, clearing the bar at 1.85 meters. His triple jump distance of 13.64 meters also earned Labossiere a first-place medal. With a distance of 5.87 meters in the long jump, the junior field star placed third.

Combining his indoor and outdoor championships, Labossiere is a five-time GNAC Individual Champion with three high jump wins and two triple jump victories.
