Costa, Fisher, Gomes Sweep GNAC Women's Outdoor Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. – Emmanuel track and field opened their 2026 season this past Saturday, and with their performances, junior Ava Fisher, sophomore Olivia Costa, and first-year Alisha Gomes swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Fisher, the GNAC Field Athlete of the Week, placed herself atop two GNAC field event leaderboards at the Wesleyan Swanson Invite as she placed third in the Javelin (35.44m) and 11th in the Discus (29.46m). Fisher also had a 13th-place mark in the Hammer Throw at 29.92 meters, placing her second in the conference leaderboards. 

Costa, who claimed the Track Athlete of the Week award, kicked off her outdoor season strong with a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters (1:01.82) at the Wesleyan Swanson Invite to place first on the GNAC Leaderboards in the event.

Gomes scored the GNAC Rookie of the Week honors following a 10th-place finish in the 200 meters (26:36) and an 11th-place finish in the 400 meters (1:03.51) at the Wesleyan Swanson Invite for a first and fourth place spot in the conference event leaderboards.

The Saints are back in action on Saturday, March 28, at the SNHU Spring Open, hosted at Southern New Hampshire University.
