Bangor, Maine - Freshman forward Amanda Roberts (Hudson, N.H.) netted two goals to go along with an assist to help lead the Emmanuel College women's soccer team past Maine Maritime Academy, 6-0, this morning in the 2011 Husson University Classic at the Boucher Soccer Pitch. The Saints enjoyed the northbound roundtrip, going 2-0 over the weekend while the loss drops the Mariners to 0-2 on the year.

The Saints jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute as sophomore midfielder Lindsey Garvey (Warwick, R.I.) found the back of the net with the help of an assist from junior forward Meghan Zerba (Cumberland, R.I.). Roberts scored the first of her two goals with about 10 minutes remaining in the first half to increase the Saints lead to 2-0, putting home a pass from sophomore defender Shawn Crifo (Newburyport, Mass.). Sophomore midfielder Donandrea Myette (Portsmouth, R.I.) gave Emmanuel some breathing room heading into the halftime intermission, netting her second goal in as many days with just two minutes to play in the first half, increasing the Saints lead to 3-0. Myette was assisted by sophomore forward Darcey Sullivan (Dalton, Mass.).

Emmanuel continue to pour on the goals in the second frame as senior forward Melanie Hoffman (Topsham, Maine) got into the mix with her first goal of the year, finish a feed from freshman forward Kelsie Dumas (Dalton, Mass.) to make it 4-0. Freshman midfielder Alexia Basile (West Hartford, Conn.) made it 5-0 with her first collegiate goal, converting a pass from Roberts for the marker before Roberts capped the scoring with her second goal of the match to make it 6-0 in favor of Emmanuel. Roberts second tally was assisted by freshman defender Emily Fallon (Hope Valley, R.I.) for her first collegiate point.

Junior keeper Jessica D'Ottavio (Pawling, N.Y.) made three saves while in net for the Saints before being relieved by junior netminder Jackie Murray (Saugus, Mass.) who made two save while in between the pipes to combine for the shutout.

Emmanuel will return to action on Tuesday evening when the host Nichols College in their home opener at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
