GREENWOOD, Ind. – Emmanuel women's soccer senior Annebel Balogh de Galantha flourished for another season athletically and academically, resulting in her second consecutive selection to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Women's Soccer Academic All-America® Team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Members of the CSC voted over the first week of December for this Academic All-America® honor, which placed Balogh de Galantha on the First Team on defense.
In Emmanuel's history, Balogh de Galantha becomes the first women's soccer player to be a two-time CSC Division III Women's Soccer Academic All-America®. She joins Yuleska Ramirez-Tejada ('20) as the only Emmanuel student-athlete to ever be a multi-time CSC Division III Academic All-America® in any sport. Balogh de Galantha also becomes the third-ever First Team selection, joining Ramirez-Tejada and Mikayla Guthrie ('19).
A mainstay in the Saints defense at center back since her first season in 2022, the two-year co-captain of the program was nominated with a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA, while majoring in Psychology, concentrated in Counseling and Health.
"I'm absolutely honored to be named to the Academic All-American team for the second time," said Balogh de Galantha. "I'm grateful to receive the recognition for the work I've put in both on and off the field. I want to thank my teammates and professors who have supported me throughout my time at Emmanuel and helped me make this achievement possible."
Balogh de Galantha finished the 2025 season with three goals and two assists, totaling eight points. Over her four seasons, she collected 16 goals and 10 assists, while playing in 97 percent of the team's minutes over that span.
The season culminated with Balogh de Galantha being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defender of the Year for the first time in her career, while also earning a spot on the GNAC All-Conference First Team.
The Saints won their second consecutive GNAC Championship, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament, thanks to a 2-1 win on Clemente Field in early November. Emmanuel went on to play No. 8 MIT in the First Round, where the season ended in a 3-0 defeat.
"I'm incredibly proud to represent Emmanuel College," added Balogh de Galantha. " Being only the second multi-time Academic All-American in school history makes this especially meaningful, and it's something I'll always appreciate, even after graduating from school.
The CSC Academic All-America® selection process begins with student-athletes being nominated to the CSC Academic All-District® Team.
Nomination for the Academic All-District® Team requires a student-athlete to be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing with a 3.50 GPA or higher and start in 66 percent or appear in 90 percent of a team's games.
Following that nomination, a select group of student-athletes advances to the Academic All-America® selection process, voted on by the members of CSC. Of the 1,650 Division III women's soccer student-athletes to be named to the Academic All-District® Team, 403 names advanced to the Academic All-America® ballot.
From there, three goalies, 12 defenders, nine midfielders, and nine forwards make the cut, as the top vote-getters are named a First-, Second-, or Third-Team Academic All-Americas®.
Ten of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® Division III women's soccer teams have a 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.94, with the entire Division III team retaining a collective average GPA of 3.91.
Balogh de Galantha is one of six student-athletes on this year's CSC Academic All-America® teams to have been named a CSC Academic All-America® member in a previous season.
