Caroline Carey setting a pair of program records and senior
Desiree Robinson collecting three second-place finishes at the Sean Collier Invitational last Saturday, the women's track and field duo have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, as announced by the GNAC Office on Monday.
Carey claims her first weekly award out of the GNAC following a pair of top-eight finishes at the Sean Collier Invitational, setting program records in the 100 meters and 200 meters. Her 100-meter time of 12.54 placed her fourth, while the 200-meter time of 25.74 was good for eighth. Both times earned Carey qualification to the New England Division III Regional Championships.
For Robinson, she earns her third consecutive Field Athlete of the Week honors with second-place finishes in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Robinson's high jump of 1.58 meters, long jump of 5.29 meters, and triple jump of 11.18 meters were all good for second place. The high jump clearance is a new PR and was .75 inches shy of the program record.
Up next in the Saints schedule is the GNAC Championship Meet, hosted at Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday and Sunday. After the championship, the New England Division III Regionals will be held on May 2 and May 3 at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
